- Writing in snippets is an idea I've had for years. Blog shorts, as a riff on nonfiction shorts. Whole books and websites are focused on nf shorts, so yes, they are a thing. Blog shorts as brief thoughts on big ideas that play out over several days or weeks. Maybe a few shorts in one post. The topics can be completely unrelated. Or not.
- Deep Work is a book, an idea, and a practice. I have engaged with all three since last week. This post, this renewal of my writing life, is deep work.
- Tomorrow I will engage some of Cal Newport's deep work rules and methodologies when I return from holiday break to the office. I do like rules. Definitely a rule follower, I am. Rules of my own making (spend no more than $100/month on Costco items) and those set by others (change the oil in your car every 3,000 miles).
- Typically speaking, I am not a fan of odd numbers. But, I am starting 2020 with good odds. On January 19, I will walk 13.1 miles with my best buddies in the Pasadena Half Marathon. And exactly 7 days later, I will turn 51 years old. Digging it!
